OUR COMMUNITY
The Dawoodi Bohra Community of Ohio consists of members of the faith from all parts of Ohio. It is a much smaller community than most other Dawoodi Bohra communites in the United States, but strives to achieve all of the same amenities offered in larger communities. The community has around 50 families, who primarily reside within the larger cities of Ohio such as Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Dayton.
In 2004, with the permission of His Holiness Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb, the Dawoodi Bohra Community of Ohio was established and in 2007 a center was built for members to meet and conduct prayers.
The Dawoodi Bohra community members in Ohio primarily originate from India and East Africa. The community is a trading community and emphasizes the importance of doing business in the community in which they reside. Our spiritual leader, Syedna Muffadal Saifuddin, emphasizes that all members should be loyal to the country they reside in and help and nurture the communities in which they live. The Dawoodi Bohra community strives to have a positive influence within their community and the state.
The Dawoodi Bohras focus on the need for education, and boast a 100% literacy rate throughout the world. All children attend their local schools, and proceed to college for further education. The majority of community members in Ohio are engineers and in the medical fields.
During recent years, there has been an added emphasis on the need to help the environment. Many Ohio community members started planting trees to help offset the effects of global warming. Also, the community has started using bio-degradable products to help alleviate the concerns with plastic and other non-bio-degradable waste facing the world.
While the Dawoodi Bohra community of Ohio is small, it works hard to do what it can to be a positive influence within the state. Members of the community are loyal to their country and their communities in which they live.
